I’m fine.”
It’s a phrase so many of us say without even thinking—but how often do we say it without really meaning it?
In this episode of the Twins Mummy NI Podcast, we explore the emotional reality of maternal mental health in motherhood with multiples, and the quiet struggles that often sit beneath the surface of those two words "I'm fine."
From overwhelm and isolation to intrusive thoughts, exhaustion, and survival mode, this episode gently opens up the realities so many mums are quietly carrying behind the scenes.
We’re joined by Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist Dr Rebecca Moore and co-founder of Make Birth Better, to explore this important conversation in depth.
We discuss:
• Why so many mums say “I’m fine” when they’re not• The hidden loneliness of raising multiples• Survival mode, exhaustion, and emotional overload• Intrusive thoughts and anxiety in early motherhood• The impact of comparison, guilt, and isolation• How to recognise when you might need support—and how to access it
This episode gently challenges the idea that coping means you’re okay. From the outside, everything can look managed—but internally, many mums are carrying far more than anyone can see.
Most importantly, this conversation is a reminder that you are not alone, your experience is valid, and support is available.

For a long time, I quietly believed I was getting motherhood wrong.
Raising my twins never looked the way I thought it would. It felt more structured… more intense… more about managing than simply being present.
And with that came guilt.
Guilt about not giving enough one-on-one time.Guilt about the systems I had to put in place.Guilt about whether my children were missing out.
But over time, something shifted.
I began to understand that I wasn’t parenting one child —I was raising more than one little person at the exact same time.
And that changes everything.
In this episode, I discuss:
The internal guilt many mums of multiples experience
The comparison between singleton and multiples motherhood
The “systems” we build to keep our children safe and cared for
The emotional weight of being needed in two places at once
This is a gentle, honest conversation for any mum who has ever felt like it looks different for her.
Because it does.
And that doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong.
It means you’re doing something that requires more.
